I don’t know about you, but I am not a fan of water. I don’t get in the pool, I don’t swim at the beach, I don’t even like baths (but don’t tell anyone – my job as Glynne’s Soaps Sales Manager might be in jeopardy!)
Even though I am not a fan of the water, there are some dogs that love it! So for them there is this great group called Carolina Dock Dogs. They are having an event this weekend over at Battleship Park called the Battleship Splash. Dogs will compete in various events revolving around jumping into the Cape Fear River after a lure. They have contests for the farthest jump, most air and others.
The Battleship Splash is sponsored by my favorite hotel - Dog Club of Wilmington, and on Saturday from 10-3 there will be vendors set up with all sorts of different things for you and your dog. Of course, Glynne’s Soaps will be there, along with Aunt Kerry’s Pet Stop and lots more.
This is a can’t miss event with tons of different things to see and do. When you get there, tell ‘em Wrigley sent ya!
We delivered dog soaps and breath spray to one of our favorite places last week – Aunt Kerry’s Pet Stop and when we walked in the door our jaws dropped in surprise! Aunt’s Kerry’s has undergone a total transformation. We knew it was happening, we just hadn’t been in to see it yet.
Aunt Kerry's Pet Stop has a new look
For those of you who don’t know, Aunt Kerry is one of the people who was instrumental in our starting Glynne’s Soaps. She tried our first soaps on her kids and gave invaluable advice on packaging, pricing and other necessary business stuff. She also was our first wholesale customer. Aunt Kerry’s Pet Stop is her store and it is chock full of great stuff for your fur kids. They specialize in natural and healthy food and treats and the entire staff is very knowledgeable about all of them. They also carry toys, grooming products and other dog and cat related items.
The remodel of the store has really opened up the middle – creating a much bigger space with more products, but also a more open feel. It definitely isn’t as cramped to walk around in there, especially if your dog is with you.
And you have got to check out the bakery case up at the register. It’s
Everyone needs a St Patrick's Day cookie
full of fun shaped cookies for your dog that fit every occasion. Right now they are highlighting the green beer mug shaped cookies for St. Patrick’s Day.
So, if you are anywhere near Wilmington, NC and have never been to Aunt Kerry’s Pet Stop, you are missing out on the best pet store in the area. And if you do shop there, get in soon to check out the new and improved layout. And when you do go in – tell them “The Soap Ladies” say HI!
Most people have experienced the pain of having dry chapped skin, but did you know that your dog can experience the same painful dry chapped skin on the pads of his feet, his nose and even his elbows. Harsh winter conditions can lead to cracking of your dog’s nose, and walking on cold surfaces, or surfaces that have been salted to prevent slipping can damage the pads of his feet.
Glynne’s Soaps created “Nozes and Tozes” balm to help combat the dry skin your dog can experience. Made with all natural vegetable oils, bees wax and Tea Tree and Lavender Essential Oils, Nozes and Tozes is safe to use everyday. The conditioning oils will soften and soothe the dry areas. Tea tree oil is antibacterial, antifungal and antviral. It will help prevent any infections and fight any that might already be present. Lavender oil is known for its ability to promote healing.
If your dog is suffering from dry cracked pads, nose or other sensitive areas, buy Glynne’s Nozes and Tozes Balm to give them the relief they need.
We are big believers in truth in adverting. We believe it in our personal life and in our professional life. One of Gayle’s favorite quotes comes from the great philosopher Pop-eye “I Yam what I Yam”. The same is true for our company. We are what we are. As you probably know by now our company began when we lost our dog to flea treatment and we began a search for all natural flea treatment. All natural, it is a way of life here at Glynne’s Soaps.
We become very frustrated when we attend festivals or visit other soap companies and discover their ‘all natural soap’ contains fragrance oil. There is nothing all natural about fragrance oil. Fragrance oil is a synthetic fragrance. Synthetic, as in created without the benefit of nature. Many fragrance oils contain over 100 different compounds in order to get exactly the right scent. The problem comes with the fact that companies don’t have to list each and every compound, so you have no idea what you are getting. Some compounds are known skin irritants, among other things. Fragrance oils have also been linked to neurological problems, the disruption of a bodies natural hormone balance, and are very harsh on the environment. It just goes to show how important label reading really is. The package may say all natural, but if the ingredients say fragrance oil, it can not be all natural. In fact, it is adding to the destruction of your health and the health of the environment.
Another downfall to using fragrance oils is that they have no therapeutic benefits. The all natural essential oils used in Glynne’s Soaps not only smell great, they will improve your health. So, shop wisely.
On a happier note, tonight we will be at Aunt Kerry’s Pet Stop for photos with Santa from 6-8pm. On Saturday we will be in Leland, NC for the Holiday Parade and Craft Show from 8am-3pm and at the North Kerr Spalon in Wilmington, NC for their Goddess Party from 2-4pm. Print this blog post and bring it by any of these locations for 10% off your Glynne’s Soaps purchase.
Remember, a bar of Glynne’s Soaps makes a great all natural stocking stuffer.
